In the afternoon, you will begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Kapaleeshar Temple, which is a famous ancient temple in Chennai, that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This 7th century temple is an iconic example of the Dravidian architecture, that was constructed by the Pallavas, and later expanded by the Vijayanagra Kings. The temple’s colourful gopuram (gateway tower) is adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the Hindu mythology. On visiting the temple, you will be mesmerized by the temple’s serene ambiance, vibrant rituals, and the devout chants of the priests. One of the key highlights in the temple is the temple tank and the annual Arubathimoovar Festival that attract thousands of devotees, making it a must-visit for those seeking spiritual fulfillment and cultural immersion.

Next, you will visit Fort St. George, which was the first British fortress in India, that was built in 1644 and marks the founding of the modern city of Chennai. The fort was originally established as a trading post, but it later evolved into a significant political and military stronghold for the British East India Company. Today, the fort houses the Fort Museum, which showcases relics from the British Raj, including weapons, uniforms, and paintings of the British officials and the Indian rulers.

Then, you will head to the Government Museum, which is one of the oldest museums in India that was established in 1851. This museum boasts a rich collection of South Indian bronze sculptures, Amaravati marbles, and artifacts from various periods of Indian history. The museum is divided into several sections, where each showcases ancient sculptures, rare coins, zoological specimens, and cultural artifacts. The museum also offers a deep dive into Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage and history, making it a key attraction for any visitor to Chennai.

Lastly, you will be visiting the Marina Beach, which stretches for about 13 kilometres and is the second-largest urban beach in the world. The beach and the surrounding area is a vibrant hub in CHennai, where locals and tourists gather to relax by the seashore. The cool sea breeze, golden sands, and crashing waves provide a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Here, you can stroll along the promenade, indulge in local snacks from vendors, see statues of national leaders and memorials of Tamil political figures, or simply sit back and enjoy the cool sea breeze, golden sands, and crashing waves while witnessing a captivating sunset over the horizon.

Later, you will return to your hotel to feast on a delicious dinner and to have a comfortable overnight stay.

    Day 2Chennai – Tirupati – Tirumala

Today, wake up to a fresh new day, relish a hearty breakfast, and then you will embark on a sacred journey to Tirupati, the holy town in Andhra Pradesh that houses the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, which is also known as the Tirupati Balaji Temple.

After a short journey, you will arrive in Tirupati, from where you will ascend the Tirumala Hills to reach the abode of Lord Venkateswara. These seven hills are collectively known as “Sapthagiri,” an they represent the seven hoods of the serpent Adisesha, a mythical figure on whom Lord Vishnu is said to rest. The hills are enveloped in spiritual significance, and as you ascend up the winding road, you will feel the divine energy that draws millions of devotees here each year.
