    Mussoorie Sightseeing

    Kempty Falls:

After breakfast, the first attraction you will visit today is the Kempty Falls, which is Mussoorie’s most famous attraction that is located approximately 15 km from the city center. This ancient temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the region and is dedicated to Goddess Surkanda Devi, a powerful manifestation of Goddess Durga depicted as a fierce eight-armed warrior deity. The temple holds deep spiritual significance as it is recognized as one of the 52 Shakti Peethas scattered across the Indian subcontinent.

According to Hindu mythology, when Lord Shiva carried the lifeless body of his beloved wife Goddess Sati after her self-immolation, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to dismember her form. Then her head is believed to have fallen at this very location, making it a sacred site of immense religious importance.

To reach the summit, you may either trek through the dense forest trail (approximately 2-3 hours of moderate trekking) or hire a horse for the journey (at your own expense). The trek itself is an adventure, taking you through beautiful oak and deodar forests, with occasional clearings that offer glimpses of the valleys below.

Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Trisul, and Nanda Kot (only visible if the weather is clear). Moreover, on clear days, you can even see as far as the Tibetan border.

Here you can also seek the blessings of the divine by visiting the small temple dedicated to Goddess Naina. The temple offers stunning views of Nainital town, the lake, and the surrounding valleys far below.

    Snow View Point (Optional):

if you are not interested in a trek, you have the option of visiting the Snow View Point, which is one of Nainital’s most popular viewpoints that is located at an altitude of 2,270 meters. This viewpoint is easily accessible via a cable car (ropeway) that departs from Mallital (at your own expense). The cable car ride itself is an exciting experience that offers aerial views of the town and the lake below.

At the Snow View Point, you will enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the major Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Trisul, and Nanda Kot. The viewpoint has coin-operated telescopes that allow you to get a closer look at the distant snow-covered peaks.

There are also small shops and cafes at the viewpoint where you can enjoy hot snacks and beverages while taking in the magnificent views. Here, you can also capture some amazing photographs with the backdrop of snowy Himalayan peaks.

    Lunch

After your morning exploration, you will return to town to relish a delicious lunch at one of the famous restaurants (at your own expense).

    Nainital Afternoon Sightseeing

    Tiffin Top (Dorothy’s Seat):

After lunch, you will visit the Tiffin Top, which is also known as the Dorothy’s Seat. This viewpoint sits at an altitude of 2,292 meters and is named after Dorothy Kellett, an English artist who died in a plane crash here.

You can reach Tiffin Top either by trekking through the scenic Ayarpatta slopes (approximately 1-2 hours) or by hiring a horse (at your own expense). The trek takes you through beautiful pine and oak forests, and this peaceful trail offers a soothing experience that lets you connect with your inner self.

From the top, you will enjoy stunning views of the Nainital town nestled around the lake, as well as panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The viewpoint has a stone structure built in memory of Dorothy Kellett, and it’s an ideal spot for a peaceful break with nature.

    Eco Cave Gardens:

Next, you will visit the Eco Cave Gardens (Eco Cave Park), which is a popular attraction in Nainital that is located near Mallital. The Eco Cave Gardens are a series of interconnected rocky caves and hanging gardens that offer a unique experience.

Here, you will explore six different caves, each named after local animals like the Tiger Cave, Panther Cave, Bat Cave, Flying Fox Cave, Apes Cave, and Squirrel Cave. The caves have narrow well-lit passages and low ceilings, making the experience exciting, especially for children and adventure enthusiasts.

There is also a beautiful musical fountain and a hanging garden with colorful flowers and manicured lawns situated near the caves (entry fee applicable).

    Land’s End:

If time permits, you may have the option to visit Land’s End, which is a scenic viewpoint located about 4 km from Mallital. This viewpoint offers dramatic views of the Khurpatal valley on one side and the distant plains on the other.

The area is surrounded by dense forests and is relatively quieter than other tourist spots, making it perfect for those seeking some solitude amidst nature. Here, you can also visit the small Kali temple near the viewpoint to get some spiritual solace.
