On the way to Mysuru, you will visit the historic town of Srirangapatna, which is steeped in cultural and historical significance. Here, you will first visit the Dariya Daulat Bagh, which used to be the summer palace of Tipu Sultan. This beautiful garden palace was built by Tipu Sultan in 1784 and is made using teakwood. Inside the palace, you will find murals and paintings that depict Tipu Sultan’s military campaigns, as well as a museum displaying various artifacts from his reign.
Next, you will visit the Gumbaz, which is a mausoleum that was built by Tipu Sultan in honour of his father, Sultan Hyder Ali, and his mother, Fakhr-Un-Nisa. On the way to Ooty, your first stop will be at the Chamundi Hill, which is a hill that is located on the outskirts of Mysuru. The hill houses the Mata Chamundeshwari Temple, which is morethan a 1,000-year-old temple that is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, who is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. En route the temple, you will also see the monolithic statue of Nandi, the sacred bull of Lord Shiva, standing at over 16 feet tall.
