On your arrival in Udaipur, the beautiful city of lakes, which is often sometimes termed as the ‘Venice of the East’, you will be greeted warmly by your chauffeur, who will then escort you to your luxurious hotel.
After check-in, you may relax for a while and then you will head off to explore the Udaipur City Palace, a beautiful palace built over a period of 400 years by various rulers of the Mewar dynasty. The palace overlooks the mesmerizing Lake Pichola and its architecture features a unique blend of the Mughal & Rajput styles. Apart from that, you will be amazed by the beautiful ivory doors, mirrored walls, windows adorned with colourful glass, etc.
After spending some time at the palace, you will take a short walk to the Jagdish Temple, which is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath Rai.
After seeking the blessings from Lord Jagannath, you are now free to wander on your own. To make the most of your outing, we recommend you to explore the local markets like the City Palace Market, Hathi Pol Bazaar, Bada Bazaar, Clock Tower Market, etc.
Later return to your hotel to relish a delectable dinner and to grab a restful sleep.
Today, wake up to a fresh new day in this beautiful city, freshen up, have an appetizing breakfast and then you will head off to explore some of the other key landmarks in Udaipur like the Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari, Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal, and the Jag Mandir at Lake Pichola.
The first attraction you will be visiting today is the Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, which was built on top of a hill overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake. The palace was built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh to monitor the monsoon clouds. The palace also offers beautiful panoramic views of the city’s lakes, palaces, and landscape.
After this, you will head towards the Saheliyon ki Bari, which is a beautiful and well-planned garden situated on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake. The garden was constructed by Maharana Sangram Singh between 1710 and 1734 to serve as a recreation center for the royal family. It houses various lotus pools, fountains, statues, pavilions, and has a well-maintained lush green cover.
Then you will visit the Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum, a cultural museum that was established by Padam Shri Late Devi Lal Samar in the year 1952 to promote folk arts, folk dance and folk literature. The museum not only displays a collection of ornate jewellery, folk art, unique puppets, and masks; but also, occasionally hosts live performances of traditional folk arts, including folk dances and puppet shows.
This will be followed by a visit to the Lake Pichola, which is a man-made lake built in 1362 by a gypsy to cater to the drinking and irrigation needs of the region. The lake was later expanded by Maharana Udai Singh II in the 16th century, making it the largest lake in town.
The Pichola lake houses four islands, with the two most famous ones being the Jag Niwas and the Jag Mandir. The Jag Niwas is often referred to as the Lake Palace and was originally commissioned by Maharana Jagat Singh II to create a luxurious royal residence amidst this beautiful lake. The Jag Mandir is famous for its beautiful gardens, it’s courtyard and intricate architecture.
Today’s sightseeing tour concludes with a delightful boat ride on Lake Pichola. Here you will be visiting the famous Jag Mandir, where you will not only relax by the shimmering waters, but will also have an opportunity to capture the picturesque beauty of the palaces and havelis situated on the lake’s banks.
Later, you will come back to your hotel to relish a delicious dinner and to grab a peaceful sleep.
We recommend you wake up and start a bit early today as you will be exploring some incredible architectural and historical marvels around Udaipur like the Maharana Pratap Museum in Haldighati, the Kumbhalgarh Fort, and the Ranakpur Jain Temple.
So, after having a delicious breakfast, you will head towards Haldighati, which is a mountain pass in the Aravalli ranges that connects Udaipur to Rajasmand. This place is quite famous as it was the site for the Battle of Haldighati, which was fought in 1576 between Maharana Pratap Singh of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber, who fought the war on behalf of the Mughal Emperor Akbar as the General of his army. The Mughals were successful in winning the battle, but could not kill or capture Maharana Pratap or any of his close allies.
Here in Haldighati, you will visit the Maharana Pratap Museum (a museum is known for its antiques and light-sound show), the Chetak Samadhi (the tomb of Chetak, Maharana Pratap’s horse) and the Rakht Talai (the site where the pool of water turned red due to the blood of the slain soldiers).
After this, you will continue your journey to reach the Kumbalgarh Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built in 15th century by Rana Kumbha. The fort has an impressive wall that spans for about 36 kms, making it the second largest fortified fort after the Great Wall of China.
After exploring the Kumbalgarh Fort, you will conclude today’s sightseeing tour by visiting the Ranakpur Jain Temple, which is renowned for its stunning marble architecture and intricate carvings. This 15th-century temple is dedicated to Lord Adinatha, the first Jain Tirthankara, and was commissioned by a local businessman named Darna Shah.
After finding spiritual solace at the Ranakpur temple, you will head back to your luxurious hotel in Udaipur to feast on a scrumptious dinner and to have a restful night’s sleep.
