Here you will witness a captivating evening aarti that is filled with the melody of the rhythmic chants and ringing bells. The architecture of the temple attracts fleets of pilgrims and history enthusiasts each year. As per the legend, the temple was commissioned by King Ganeshwar, and the mighty brass trident within the temple was built by his son Guh, who was considered as a great warrior.

Local Market Visit & Overnight Stay

Later, you can explore the local market on your own and return back to your hotel later in the evening to relish a delicious dinner and to grab a restful night’s sleep.

    Early Morning Departure to Gangotri

Today, wake up to a refreshing day in the mountains, have a hearty breakfast and then you will proceed towards Gangotri, which is counted among the four Char Dhams of Uttarakhand.

Arrival at Gangotri & Temple Visit

After a short journey through the picturesque deodar forests, you will reach Gangotri. Here, you will visit the Gangotri Temple, which is believed to have been constructed near the stone where King Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva for years. Impressed by his devotion, Lord Shiva granted him his wish and as a result, Goddess Ganga descended to Earth at Gangotri in the form of a river to purify the souls of King Bhagirath’s ancestors.

This sacred stretch of water, running from Gaumukh to Devprayag is therefore known as the Bhagirathi River and the river becomes ‘Ganga’ only after its confluence with the Alaknanda River at Devprayag. It is believed that performing the ancestral rites on the banks of the Bhagirathi River aids in granting ‘moksha’ (salvation) to one’s ancestors, and that a dip in its holy waters can cleanse away the sins.

If you plan your tour during the winters, you will be lucky enough to witness the Jal Magna Shivling (submerged shivling). This naturally formed rock Shivling is believed to be the spot where Lord Shiva received the Ganges in his matted locks. The shivling is only visible during the winters, when the water level goes down.

Return Journey with Gartang Gali Trek

After receiving the blessings of Goddess Ganga & Lord Shiva at the Gangotri Temple, you will head back to Uttarkashi. On the way, you will take a short detour near Bhaironghati to partake in a short adventurous trek to Gartang Gali. This captivating path consists of a beautifully crafted wooden staircase that has been constructed along a rocky cliff above the gushing Jadh Ganga River.

The ticket to the Gartang Gali has to be purchased at an additional cost at the counter, but we assure you that it’s worth the experience.

    Gangnani Hot Spring Visit

This remarkable thirteen-story temple dates back to the 18th-century and is not only famous for it’s impressive architectural design, but also for housing the idols of various deities across its thirteen floors. We recommend you climb to the top floor of the temple to witness a stunning panoramic view of the river Ganga and the mountains of Rishikesh.

    Lakshman Jhula
After this, you will visit the Lakshman Jhula, which is a suspension bridge that is believed to have been constructed on the same spot from where Lord Lakshman crossed the river on a jute rope. We recommend you take a moment to cross the bridge and capture some memorable photographs against the iconic backdrop of the river Ganga.

    Temple Visit Options in Haridwar

Now, you will have two options – you can either visit the Mansa Devi Temple and the Chandi Devi Temple, or visit the Maya Devi Temple and the Daksh Prajapati Temple.

Option 1: Mansa Devi & Chandi Devi Temple

If you choose option 1, you will walk from Har Ki Pauri to the Mansa Devi cable car point. You will board the cable car to the top of the Bilwa Parvat, enjoying beautiful panoramic views of Haridwar and the Ganges. On reaching the top, you will visit the Mansa Devi Temple to seek the blessings from her. Goddess Mansa Devi is believed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva in his human incarnation.

After seeking the blessings from Goddess Mansa Devi, you will descend downhill to Haridwar and then head towards the Chandi Devi Temple, which is located on the Neel Parvat. This temple is recognized as a shaktipeeth and is dedicated to Goddess Chandi, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati, who is believed to have killed the demon kings Shumbh and Nishumbh. Your transfers from the road to the temple will again be in a cable car, and you can soak in the stunning views of the lush green hills, the Haridwar city and the holy river Ganga.

Option 2: Maya Devi Temple & Daksh Prajapati Temple

But, if you choose the second option, you will then have to take an e-rickshaw to the Maya Devi Temple from Har ki Pauri. The Maya Devi Temple is counted among the 52 shaktipeethas, that is dedicated to Maya Devi, an incarnation of Adi Shakti. The temple is believed to have been constructed on the spot where the heart and the navel of Goddess Sati fell. According to the popular belief, it is believed that Goddess Maya Devi blesses her devotees with marital bliss and family harmony.

Next, you will visit the ancient Daksh Prajapati Temple in Kankhal. This temple is dedicated to Maharaja Daksh Prajapati, the father of Goddess Sati. This ancient temple was built in 1810 by Queen Dhankaur and was later renovated in 1962. It is believed that the temple is built at the same spot where King Daksha performed the infamous ‘yagna’, in which Goddess Sati jumped in anger after her husband Lord Shiva was not invited by him.

    Journey to Prayagraj (Allahabad)

After visiting these sacred temples of Haridwar, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of Haridwar’s popular eateries at your own expense. You will then proceed towards the Haridwar Railway Station to board the Dehradun Subedar Express that leaves for Prayagraj (Allahabad) around 2:55 pm every day.

After a few hours journey in an air-conditioned compartment of the train, you will reach Prayagraj at around 6 in the morning.

Day 6Prayagraj (Allahabad): Arrival & Sightseeing

You will see the mausoleums of Prince Khusro (son of the Mughal king Jahangir), his mother Shah Begum, and his sister Sultan Nithar Begum. These tombs within Khusro Bagh are fine examples of Mughal architecture that showcase intricate designs, beautiful carvings, and detailed calligraphy. The Khusro Bagh is also considered an important archaeological site as it represents the transition in Mughal architecture from the red sandstone of Akbar’s time to the white marble structures under Shah Jahan.

Option 2: Alopi Sankari Devi Shakti Peeth
But, if you choose to visit the Alopi Sankari Shakti Peeth, which is a temple dedicated to Goddess Alopi Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Sati. This temple is counted among the 52 Shakti Peethas because it is believed that the fingers of Goddess Sati fell here during Lord Shiva’s dance of death known as the ‘Rudra Tandava’. Unlike other temples, you will witness that the presiding deity here is not represented by an idol or a statue. Instead, it is symbolized by a wooden ‘Jhoola’ (swing), which is considered to be the embodiment of the Alopi Devi. It is believed that the fingers of Goddess Sati fell and disappeared here and hence the Goddess is worshipped as Alopi Devi.
