Itinerary

Day 1Delhi: Arrival & Sightseeing

Upon your arrival in Delhi, you’ll be greeted with warm hospitality by our friendly guide who will then escort you to your hotel.

After settling in, your journey begins with a visit to the Red Fort or ‘Lal Qila’, which was built by Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648, after he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi. The Red Fort is built using red sandstone and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years.

After the Red Fort, you will visit the Jama Masjid, which is one of India’s largest mosques. It is also known as the ‘Masjid-i-Jahan-Numa’ and was constructed by emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656. The Jama Masjid is not only a significant place of worship for Muslims but also a remarkable architectural marvel that captivates visitors with its grandeur and historical significance.

This will be followed by a visit to the Chandini Chowk market, which is one of the oldest markets in Delhi. This market is quite famous for its vibrant shops, delicious street food, and narrow streets. You can buy some souvenirs and feast on some delicious street food here (at your own expense).

After this, you will head towards the Raj Ghat, a memorial which is the site where Mahatma Gandhi (the Father of the Nation) was cremated on January 31, 1948, a day after his assassination. It is located on the banks of the Yamuna River.

After Raj Ghat, you will visit the Connaught Place, which is not only a major financial, commercial, and business, but is also a major shopping, nightlife, and tourist destination. It was constructed in 1933 and named after the Duke of Connaught, who was the son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

You are free to explore the Connaught Place or the Rajiv Chowk on your own. Later come back to your hotel to have dinner and to grab a restful sleep.

Day 2Delhi: Local Sightseeing

Today is another day of exploring the key attractions of Delhi.

You will start by visiting the India Gate, a war memorial established on 10 February 1921 to commemorate the sacrifices of our brave soldiers in the World War I.

After this, you’ll visit Rajpath, a grand avenue that connects India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President’s residence).

This will be followed by a visit to the Qutub Minar, which is also an UNESCO World Heritage site. This towering minaret is a masterpiece that boasts of the confluence of Indo-Islamic architecture. The Qutab Minar was built in 1192 by Qutb-ud-din Aibak and was completed in 1368 by Firoz Shah Tughlaq. It has seven floors and was built for the use of the mu’azzin (crier) to give calls for the prayer.

Then, you will head towards the Lotus Temple, which is the most recent Baháʼí House of Worship in the world. It was designed by Iranian-Canadian architect Fariborz Sahba, who was inspired by the lotus flower, as it is a symbol of purity and beauty in many cultures. The temple was created as a space for people of all backgrounds and faiths to come together in prayer, meditation, and reflection.

After visiting the Lotus Temple, you will visit the Humayun’s Tomb, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that inspired the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to build the Taj Mahal.

Lastly, you will conclude your sight-seeing tour for the day by visiting the Akshardham Temple, which is a modern architectural marvel that is a tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781-1830), an incarnation of Lord Krishna. It was built by Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, a sect of Hinduism that emphasizes devotion, spirituality, and moral values.

After spending some quality time at the Akshardham Temple, you will return to your hotel for a delicious dinner and a sweet night’s sleep.

Day 4Jaipur: Local Sightseeing

Today, wake up, have an appetizing breakfast and then you will head off to explore some of the other key attractions in Jaipur like the Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jantar Mantar and the City Palace.

The first destination you will be visiting today is the Amer Fort, which is also known as the Amber Fort. This ancient fort is located on a hill, overlooking the beautiful Maota Lake. The fort was built by Raja Man Singh I in 1592. Over time, different rulers, including the Kachwahas, Mughals, and British, made their mark on this fort with various expansions and renovations.

Your next stop is the Jaigarh Fort, that was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1726. The fort is perched on the ‘Eagle’s Hill’ or ‘Cheel ka Teela’. This fort offers beautiful panoramic views of the Amer Fort, the Maota Lake, and the Jaipur city. Inside the fort, you will also find the Jaivana Cannon, which is counted amongst the world’s largest cannons.

After this, you will continue your journey to the Jantar Mantar, a special place and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a collection of various astronomical instruments that were built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, back in the early 18th century. The Jantar Mantar was used like a giant cosmic clock that helped in tracking time, predicting eclipses, and figuring out where stars and planets were located.

After this, you will visit the City Palace, which has been a home for the royal family after it was constructed in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The City Palace showcases a stunning blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. It is a majestic complex that includes beautiful courtyards, gardens, and grand buildings like the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-i-khas, Diwan-i-Aam, Patrika Gate, and more.

Finally, you will conclude the day on a spiritual note as you will visit the Govind Dev Ji Temple which is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The legend says that Raja Sawai Jai Singh II (the founder of Jaipur) brought the idol of Lord Krishna from Vrindavan in 1735 AD. However, the temple was constructed by Raja Man Singh in 1890 after the death of Raja Sawai Jai Singh.

Later, come back to your hotel to relish a delectable dinner and to grab a peaceful night’s sleep.

Day 5Jaipur - Agra

Wake up and be prepared to travel to Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal, the monument of Love.

Enroute Agra, you will first stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a town that was founded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. Here you will visit the Buland Darwaza, the Fatehpur Sikri Fort and the Jama Masjid.

The Buland Darwaza is also known as the ‘Door of Victory’ and was built in 1575 by Akbar to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. The Buland Darwaza is considered as the ‘Highest Gateway in the World’ and serves as the main entrance to the Jama Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri.

The Jama Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri is among the largest mosques in India and is built using red sandstone showcasing a fusion of Persian, Indian, and Mughal architecture.

After this, you will visit the Fatehpur Sikri Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was constructed by Emperor Akbar to honour the Sufi saint Hazrat Salim Chishti. It is believed that Salim Ji blessed Akbar with a son and an heir. As a mark of his respect for the Sufi saint, he built a house for the saint and even shifted his own home from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri. The Fatehpur Sikri Fort also houses the Jodha Mahal, which was built for Jodha Bai, a Rajput princess who married Akbar.

After this, you will continue your journey towards Agra, where you will check-in to your hotel to freshen-up. Soon, you will head towards the Taj Mahal to witness its ethereal beauty during sunset. The Taj Mahal is also a UNESCO World heritage Site and is also counted amongst the seven wonders of the world. It was built between 1631 and 1648 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away while giving birth to their 14th child. The complex also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.

The mausoleum is built on the banks of the Yamuna River using brick-in-lime mortar veneered with red sandstone and white marble, using the inlay work of precious/semi-precious stones. Being built on a square plinth with four minarets on the sides of the octagonal base, the tomb can be accessed after taking a lateral flight og a few steps provided in the centre of the southern side. The Taj Mahal is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and near-perfect symmetry. Apart from that, the truly remarkable innovations and genius planning by the horticulture planters and the architects of Shah Jahan add a rich depth and perspective to the monument. The intricate carvings and Islamic calligraphy on the white marble further adds up to its beauty.

After exploring the Taj Mahal, you will return to your hotel for a scrumptious dinner and a restful night’s sleep.

Day 6Agra: Local Sightseeing & Departure

Today is the final day of this exciting Golden Triangle Tour and before you head back to Delhi, you will be visiting some other major attractions in Agra like the Agra Fort, Mehtab Bagh, Itmad-ud-Daula, and Sikandra Fort.

The Agra Fort, also known as the Red Fort of Agra, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic marvel that once served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. The fort was won by the Mughal Emperor Babur after defeating Ibrahim Lodi during the Battle of Panipat in 1526. It is a sprawling complex of red sandstone and white marble that lies parallel to the river Yamuna.

Next, you will visit the Mehtab Bagh, which is a beautiful garden complex on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River. The garden offers exquisite views of the Taj Mahal, especially during sunset.

After this, you will head towards the Idmat-ud-Daula, which is also referred to as the ‘Baby Taj’ or the ‘Bachcha Taj’. This beautiful mausoleum was commissioned by Nur Jahan, the wife of Jahangir, for her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. The monument is an architectural gem known for its delicate marble inlay work.

The last attraction on your trip will be the Sikandra Fort, which acts the final resting place of Emperor Akbar. This grand complex is not only renowned for housing Akbar’s tomb, but also for featuring a stunning blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles.

After exploring these remarkable attractions, you will head back to Delhi, marking the end of your incredible Golden Triangle Tour. From there you will go home with profound memories of history, culture, and architectural splendour.
