    Day 1 Haridwar: Arrival & Local Sightseeing

    Arrival in Haridwar

    Our friendly guide will meet you at your preferred destination in Delhi and then escort you to the holy city of Haridwar to begin your spiritual journey.

    After a few hours journey, you will reach Haridwar, where you will first check-in to your hotel to unwind and refresh.

    Afternoon Spiritual Sightseeing

    Har-ki-Pauri
    In the afternoon, you will start your spiritual journey with a visit to Har-ki-Pauri, where you will take a dip in the sacred Ganga River. It is believed that taking a dip in the river Ganga at Har-ki-Pauri not only soothes your soul, but also relieves you off your sins.

    Maya Devi Temple
    After this, you will visit the Maya Devi Temple, which is a revered ‘Siddhi Peetha’ that is dedicated to Goddess Maya, an incarnation of Goddess Adi Shakti. This sacred temple holds deep significance in Hindu mythology and is believed to stand where the heart & navel of Goddess Sati fell. Here, you can seek the blessings of Goddess Maya for marital bliss and family harmony.

    Daksh Prajapati Temple
    You will then continue your spiritual journey with a visit to the Daksh Prajapati Temple, that was built by Queen Dhankaur in 1810 to honour King Daksha, the father of Goddess Sati. Legend has it that this temple is constructed on the site where King Daksha conducted the ‘yagna’ in which Goddess Sati jumped in as her beloved husband Lord Shiva was not invited.

    Evening Ganga Aarti Experience

    Ganga Aarti at Har-ki-Pauri
    After returning to Har ki Pauri, witness the mesmerizing evening Ganga Aarti, which is a mesmerizing ceremony with priests holding lit lamps and chanting hymns. Witnessing the Ganga Aarti is an experience that connects you deeply with the religious traditions and cultural richness of our country.

    Overnight Stay in Haridwar

    Later, you can conclude your day by checking into a cozy and clean hotel for a delightful dinner and a restful night’s sleep.

    Day 2Haridwar – Barkot

    Morning in Haridwar & Scenic Drive to Barkot

    Today, wake up, relish an appetizing breakfast and then you will embark on a captivating journey to Barkot in the Garhwal Himalayas.

    Enroute Sightseeing in Mussoorie

    Gun Hill
    Enroute Barkot, you will take a short detour at Mussoorie to visit the Gun Hill, which is Mussoorie’s second-highest point that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Historically, the Gun Hill was used by the British to fire a cannon at noon to help people adjust their watches. Even today, it is a must-visit spot for its breathtaking vistas.

    Kempty Falls
    This will be followed by a visit to the Kempty Falls, which is a popular waterfall that holds historical significance as it was developed by a British officer in the 1830s as a popular picnic spot for the British aristocracy. This waterfall is considered as one of the oldest and most frequented tourist spots in Mussoorie, where you can enjoy in the cascading waters and feel the refreshing mist in the atmosphere.

    Arrival in Barkot

    After a delightful time in Mussoorie, you will proceed towards Barkot, which is known for its serene landscapes. Here, you will check-in to your hotel to have a delicious dinner and to grab a restful sleep.

    Day 3Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot

    Morning in Barkot & Drive to Janki Chatti

    Today, wake up early make the most of your day, freshen up, have a nutritious breakfast and then you will head towards Yamunotri via Janki Chatti.

    Janki Chatti
    You will begin today’s journey with a short drive to Janki Chatti, which acts as the base camp for the trek to Yamunotri. Here, you will stretch your muscles on arrival and then begin trekking for about 6 kilometres to reach the Yamunotri Dham (12,972 ft).

    Yamunotri Dham – Spiritual Exploration

    Yamunotri
    On reaching Yamunotari you will visit the temple to seek the blessings of Goddess Yamuna, the daughter of Lord Surya (the Sun God). The temple was originally built in the 18th century by Garhwal Naresh Pratap Shah and was later renovated in the 19th century by King Sudarshan Shah.

    Apart from that, you will also see the two natural springs, which are known as the Surya Kund and the Gauri Kund. The Surya Kund has boiling hot water, while the Gauri Kund has tepid water, which is ideal for bathing.

    Yamunotri is believed to be the abode of Goddess Yamuna and is considered as the source of the Yamuna River. However, the actual source of the river is the Yamunotri Glacier (20,955 ft) and ‘Sangya’ (14,500 ft) is the actual birthplace of the river.

    Return Trek & Drive Back to Barkot

    After the spiritual exploration, you will trek back for 6 kilometres to reach Janki Chatti and then you will comfortably travel back to Barkot in a well-maintained cab via a scenic route.

    On reaching Barkot, you will check-in back to your hotel to indulge in a delicious dinner and to grab a peaceful sleep.

    Day 4Barkot – Uttarkashi

    Departure from Barkot & Arrival in Uttarkashi

    Today, wake up to a fresh new day, relish a delightful breakfast, and then you will check-out from your hotel, as you will depart for Uttarkashi, which is a small town that is situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Uttarkashi is also known as the footstep to Gangotri.

    On reaching Uttarkashi, you will first check-in to your hotel to freshen up, and to grab some rest.

    Kuteti Devi Temple
    Then, you will proceed towards the Kuteti Devi Temple, which is another popular temple in Uttarkashi. The temple is dedicated to Kuteti Devi, who was the family deity of the Maharaja of Kota (Rajasthan).

    According to the legend, the Maharaja of Kota lost his bag of money while he was on a pilgrimage tour of Gangotri. Distressed about the loss of money in a far-off land, he prayed for deliverance at the Kashi Vishwanath temple and also promised to marry his daughter to any boy in the village if his bag is found. Miraculously, the bag was found within the temple with all the money & belongings intact.

    The delighted Maharaja then kneeled at the temple of Kashi Vishwanath and requested the priest to find a suitable boy for his daughter. Soon, the priest found a decent boy and they arranged the marriage, but the princess was unhappy as she could not visit her family deity’s temple.

    So, the princess and her husband prayed to the Goddess and she appeared in their dreams, instructing them of her presence. The excited couple went to their field to the spot where they saw the Goddess in their dream and were surprised to find three stones with heavenly aroma. The Kuteti Devi Temple was then erected at the same spot, and it is believed that the goddess fulfills the wishes of her devotees.

    Local Exploration in Uttarkashi

    After seeking the blessings of Kuteti Devi, you will come back to the town. Here, you can explore the local market on your own.
    Evening Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Soon, before sunset, you must reach the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to witness the enchanting evening aarti that is filled with the melody of temple bells, rhythmic chants and lighted diyas.

    The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the most famous temples in the region and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the legend, the temple was built by King Ganeshwar and it’s mighty brass trident was built by his son Guh, who was considered a great warrior.

    Shakti Temple
    This will be followed by a visit to the Shakti Temple, which is located within the courtyard of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple is dedicated to the Goddess of Strength.

    Later, you will return to your cozy hotel to delve into the taste of delicious local cuisines and to have a sweet night’s sleep.

    Day 5Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi

    Early Morning Departure to Gangotri

    Today, wake up as early as possible to make the most of your day, then freshen up, have a hearty breakfast and check-out from your hotel. Then you will start your trip to Gangotri, the abode and the birthplace of the river Ganga.

    Gangotri Temple Darshan

    After a few hours’ drive through the scenic deodar forests, you will reach Gangotri, where you will visit the Gangotri Temple, that is built near the stone where King Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva.

    According to the legend, it is believed that the Goddess Ganga took the form of a river and appeared on Earth near Gangotri to absolve the sons of the predecessors of King Bhagirath. Therefore, the river from Gaumukh till Devprayag is called the Bhagirathi and it is only called the river Ganga after it meets the river Alaknanda in Devprayag.

    It is further believed that performing the ancestral rites on the banks of the Bhagirathi River helps our ancestors attain ‘moksha’ (salvation) and taking a holy dip in the river cleanses away the sins.

    Gartang Gali Trek via Bhaironghati (Optional)

    After seeking the blessings of Goddess Ganga at Gangotri, you will travel back towards Uttarkashi, but on the way, you will take a short detour near Bhaironghati to embark on a short trek to the Gartang Gali, which is a beautiful wooden staircase that is built along a rocky cliff above the gushing Jadh Ganga river.

    The ticket to the Gartang Galis comes at an additional cost, but it is definitely worth it.

    Gangnani Hot Spring Experience

    Soon, after completing this captivating trek, you will travel to Gangnani to take a holy dip in Rishikund, which is a very famous hot-water spring. Taking a hot bath in this geo-thermal spring will surely make you feel relaxed and fresh.

    Return to Uttarkashi

    Later, you will come back to your hotel in Uttarkashi, to grab some rest, have a delicious dinner and grab a restful sleep.

    Day 6 Uttarkashi – Rishikesh

    Departure from Uttarkashi & Scenic Drive to Rishikesh

    Wake up to a fresh new day in the mountains, freshen-up, relish a hearty breakfast and then begin your journey to Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. As the journey is a bit long, we recommend you to wake up a bit early today and start your journey around 8:00 am.

    Enroute Lunch Break

    Enroute Rishikesh, take a break for lunch and relish the local flavours of the Garhwal region, but at your own expense. Then continue your journey towards Rishikesh, where you will probably reach by early afternoon.

    Arrival in Rishikesh

    On reaching Rishikesh, you will check-in to your cozy hotel to freshen-up and grab some rest.

    Local Sightseeing in Rishikesh

    Beatles Ashram
    Then, you will head out to visit the Beatles Ashram, which was originally called the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. This Ashram got it’s name ‘the Beatles Ashram’ after the Beatles stayed here in 1968 to delve into transcendental meditation. The captivating graffiti on the walls and the peaceful ambiance of the ashram will surely transport you to the cultural vibe of the 1960s.

    Parmarth Niketan
    After this, you will head towards the Parmarth Niketan to witness the enchanting Ganga Aarti. This mesmerizing ritual ceremony usually starts around sunset, and is filled with immersive rhythmic chants, beautiful glow of the diyas, with a backdrop of the holy river Ganga.

    Local Market Visit & Leisure Time

    After this, we will drop you either at the local market or at your hotel as per your preference. We recommend you to visit the vibrant local market to shop some souvenirs and to try some authentic street food.

    Dinner & Overnight Stay

    Later, come back to your hotel to relish a delicious dinner and to grab a peaceful night’s sleep.

    Day 7Rishikesh: Local Sightseeing & Departure

    Morning Wellness & Check-out

    Today is the final day of your Ganga Yamuna Trail , so wake up early in the holy city of Rishikesh and consider joining a morning yoga or meditation session. After that, freshen up, have an appetizing breakfast, and then check-out from your hotel to explore some of the other key attractions of Rishikesh, which will be followed by your journey back to Delhi.

    Rishikesh Local Sightseeing

    Terah Manzil Temple (Trayambakeshwar Temple)
    You will begin today’s trip by visiting the Terah Manzil Temple, which is also known as the Trayambakeshwar Temple. This thirteen-story architectural marvel was built in the 18th century and it showcases the religious heritage of Rishikesh. Each floor of the temple boasts of housing the idols of various Gods & Goddesses. We recommend you to climb to the top floor as it not only rewards you with not just a spiritual boon, but also with a breathtaking panoramic view of the river Ganga and the town beyond.

    Lakshman Jhula
    After this, you will head towards the Lakshman Jhula, which is a suspension bridge on the river Ganga that is believed to have been constructed on the spot from where Lord Lakshman crossed the holy river on a jute rope. You can cross the bridge and capture memorable moments with a backdrop of the picturesque mountains.

    Ram Jhula
    This will be followed by a visit to the Ram Jhula, which is another suspension bridge that is named after Lord Rama.

    Departure from Rishikesh to Delhi

    Following your exploration of the Ram Jhula in Rishikesh, you will get in your luxurious cab and travel back comfortably to Delhi. This marks the end of the enchanting ‘Ganga Yamuna Trail’ and we will drop you at your preferred destination – be it the ISBT, the Railway Station, or the Airport.

    Finally, you will go back home with cherished moments of spiritual experiences, sightseeing, and relaxation.
